Always Lunes is a platform dedicated to South Florida’s underground scene, curating and sharing the best local events while building community and amplifying independent culture.
Founded by Lunes Oña in 2019, Always Lunes has been driven by a passion for connecting people to the artists, organizers, and spaces that keep the scene alive. Under Oña’s vision, the platform has grown into a trusted resource and cultural connector, shining a light on the region’s local artists and fostering a sense of belonging through shared experiences.
This is a trans-queer-latinx led organization.

how it started
(and a little bit about me)
Hi! I'm Lunes Oña (he/they), founder of Always Lunes, a creative director, documentarian and editor based in Miami. I was raised in a Cuban household in Madrid and later lived in Panamá, before moving to Miami in 2017.
I started Always Lunes as an art page and clothing brand in 2019, rebranding it in 2020 as an art magazine with Artist Highlights featuring Black South Florida creatives for Black History Month. This evolved into a broader initiative connecting over 130 artists nationwide during the pandemic. In 2022, I launched the What’s Up? South Florida calendar to promote DIY events, becoming a key community platform for people to find underground events and support local artists in our region.
My passion for filmmaking began as a teen in Panamá, leading to my 2025 debut documentary film, Hijos de la Diáspora (60 min), about the latest generations of the global Cuban diaspora. It premiered in May 2024 and has screened in several venues and universities in Miami, and New York City. We’ll post about future screenings here.
